Alaska: Floating the Knik River and our final week

Launching off Jim Lake to float the Knik River :)

Aunt Mandy completely outfitted us for our trip...from all the gear to our snack bags. She made this trip one we will never forget!

Henry looks good in fall layers :)

stopped at a party sight off the creek

We were all bottoming out on Jim Creek with our canoes.
I can't say Henry and I make a good team.
He rolls his eyes at me...I'm  desperately asking him to stop making us zig zag. I'm not sure what his memory of this 24 hour trip will be, but I hope it was just how spectacular and special it all really was.

We set up camp in a perfect spot for morning play and breakfast.
 It was postcard worthy.
Greetings from the Knik River!

Clay in his natural habitat :)

Clay's camp donuts!

Happy kids :)

The icy, silt filled glacial water of the Knik is something a designer dreams to see. This color is only here. Probably.
I have never seen it anywhere else.
Just one more reason my artistic self loves being in Alaska :)

Post float Audrey
(I guess I should add that I left the keys of our car parked at our exit spot.... I felt so dumb. Beginner move!)

I seriously cannot get enough of the deep fried zucchini and the kids loved the peanut potatoes :)

parting moments of playing games together :)

pieced my quilt together and left it for someone to do the top stitching :)

rainy day nap under the picture windows

Our final weekend we spent watching conference, waiting in this 40 car line for donuts and just enjoying each other for the last 2 days!

I made everyone come with me to find the Kanye sign in the rain!

haha

Conference cuddling :)
I saved this artwork used during conference. I love it.

final walk underneath the broken tree around a pond in Mandy's neighborhood...kids were biking laps around us.

Leaving Alaska after all the leaves blew down around the Matanuska River seemed appropriate:)

After a long night on the plane and a great 3 weeks being with family,
it was time to be home and get our lives in order for our move.
We are in escrow but it seems shaky :/
We are putting our trust in Heavenly Father.
With each week we have acted in faith to move our lives up to Northern California. We left for SF last weekend on the fly to look at rentals and secured one in El Granada.
Alaska was a good restful place for all of us to prepare for what is in front of us.
We are so grateful to Mandy and Tom for taking such good care of us :)

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
