At breakfast we decided to list 18 things about Lucy
...so here it is in no specific order...
just us, thinking about all of her
We love you Lucy!

1. When the food is good, she'll close her eyes while chewing :)
2. She's got strong muscles (Chester's observation)
3. she gives double hugs
4. she's happy in the morning
5. she's our nerd (also add Marvel comics nerd)
6. when she sings to the music, we don't mind (it's often better!)
7. she has a sunny smile
8. she's a secret artist and comic strip writer/illustrator
9. she can't do a cartwheel
10. she suffers from acrophobia (a fear of heights)
11. her Dad taught her to cross stitch
12. she has gotten 5 stitches in 2 places on her face this year
13. she's always up for breakfast, no matter the time of day
14. she drinks a lot of milk for being lactose intolerant
15. she jams to Taylor Swift  via her beats before every basketball game
16. she's always on the back row of pictures
17. but she legitimately likes being 6'3" !
18. her forever movie is Thor Ragnorok...she can watch that over and over!

Kindergarten & 1st Grade
(although she was placed in a 2nd grade class!)
Spruce Elementary

Top Row: 2nd-5th grades Center Street Elementary & Superior Elementary
Middle Row: 6th-8th grades Eldorado Middle School & Southern Hills Middle School
Bottom Row: 9th-12th grades Fairview High School & Canyon High School
My favorite pic of her was taken spring of her 2nd or 3rd grade year
 in El Segundo:)

Taken at school by a teacher in the 5th grade.
I love it.
She has loved learning and I feel blessed by her each day. I have grown with her as a parent and she has shown me patience through it all. As I wrote down all those schools , it made me feel a little heavy. We never intended to do all of that!
Each new experience for her brought more and more growth and opportunity. For that,  I wouldn't change all those schools and moves...except 3rd grade where we agree she only learned how to draw humpback whales...sigh.

You are on your way Lucy.
Happy 18th Birthday beautiful!

Sports Mom Era

I think I saw this coming but maybe I didn't really see this coming:) I am a sports mom. Plain and simple. I had other hats too like library mom, classroom aid mom, costumes for musicals mom, outdoorsy hiking mom, musical mom, jazz band mom, tech crew mom, art mom, spring break mom, etc etc etc But sports mom has been a pretty big theme in my life:) So, in honor of my Dad's birthday today and his absolute love of sports, I share this to save the memoires.  Because one day, it will be just that, sweet and crazy sports mom era memories:) Okay, so I love JV games because the weather at 4pm in the Bay Area and even coast side was amazing last year. Tee shirt and jeans? Heavenly  Fall 2024 (he already looks different) Friday morning fits Becky Ruppel photography↑ In the middle of football season lies the beast of the high school basketball pancake breakfast. It was actually fun to serve all of the people coming through... even the complainers...haha Homecoming! And nothing better t...

Pre-mission things to do were: picture with flag at temple ✓ hikes in the sun✓ being set apart as a missionary in our home✓ home mtc p-day shenanigans✓ last taco bell supper :) ✓ hugs that need to last 18 months✓ Her first MTC phone call home. She had too much fun there but why not? This missionary mom will send you one package to the mtc... and that's it :) Upon arrival, she met her mission presidents!  Presidente y Hermana Chaverri Meeting her trainer in the field:) And after a mini transfer, meeting her new trainer! Her spanish will improve exponentially (she is from Nicaragua!)  The scripture she shared as she was in the Mexico MTC:)  I wrote it out so each day I could walk by it and remember her, and  remember the joy the gospel of Jesus Christ brings💗 I cry a little more nowadays but she has ...

The Milkbarn Path

Before fall came, Clay was determined to design and construct a walkway to the Milkbarn. Yay!!! Because we had a very narrow, shoddy (what? shoddy at the milbarn? *gasp*) ,  unevenly paved sidewalk to the front door which we knew needed a serious redo.  We bought the pavers from Lowes awhile ago and had them piled up in front of the house for months.  FYI, voles make homes under pavers.   Doesn't it look awesome ? Nice, wide, perfect curve and now easy to shovel when the snow comes. The curve looks just right against the angles of the house. I planted some tulips under the trees and near the front door.  I'm not holding my breath that anything will come up given my gardening expertise.  But again, I do believe in miracles. :) Truth! ! 1600 Sq. ft and going strong...and now with a pathway! I was trying to think of all the photos that have a pathway or walkway in them.  Here we are at the Fort Colli...
