Captains Log: Spring Break/ Week 4

I'd like to say we had an amazing spring break...
I don't know where the time went or even what we did!
Trailheads are closed, beaches are closed...it truly is a stay at home order for all Californians.
And I think it is working to flatten the curve.

We did our walking loop!

We watched a historic general conference :)

Clay ordered the wrong hat from amazon...hahaha
it's like a giant taco

Lucy and I donned our face masks and headed to Target for essential easter basket goodies and gifts.
Usually target is fun but it's just so weird :(
everyone shuffling in masked and you can't tell if they smile or want to say something.

I should point out, we had rain the entire week.
I think the rain typically comes in January but here it is!
The valley is green and beautiful.
Hard to remember all the fires last fall with this weather.
Lucy says it's her favorite weather :)

We could hear a fresh stream coming through the Angeles National Forest mountains behind us.
A nice sign of life.

We painted some more together.
Here is mine.

Lucy's

Chester's

Henry's

Audrey's
Chester getting a letter from Grandpa in San Diego :)
My Dad speaks his sports language.

Sewing lessons went pretty well! Henry seems a natural.
 As well as Audrey!

With older children occupying themselves, I have started sewing clothing again.
woo hoo!
The rust is wearing off and I have completely enjoyed pretending to be a fashion designer again :)
Here is a sweatshirt I made from a Givenchy remnant!

So spring break kind of looked like...
walking(this was saturday and the sun came to visit for the day)
eating
creating
playing video games
music
and spending time each day to learn about Christ prior to Easter Sunday

This big oak cannot fit in my photo frame...much like my feelings and  thoughts seem right now.
I can't fit all I have in my heart, up into my brain.
I have lived with quite a bit of uncertainty in my life.
Maybe this is my advantage right now, haha.
All I know is we have each other.
We can look up to God and trust in what we have lived through before and use that as a tool to guide us now.

When I remember something from my past that teaches me something about my future, I know that is the Holy Ghost speaking directly to me :)
Experience is an insightful mentor.
It's been difficult to be in Santa Clarita where Clay and I still don't feel like ourselves.
That's an odd thing to acknowledge but this pandemic is highlighting those feelings.
And I think we aren't put on this earth to pretend our way through the journey.
This is all real but it just feels so surreal.
So, in all fairness to living here...there might not be a better place for us to be right now.
That's my honest opinion.

Spring Break 2021 is going to be one for the books now :)

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
