Spring Progress Report: 2 1/2 Years

Spring clean up has commenced!
And I kept thinking I needed to look at that first photo of the Milkbarn that I took.
Just to see the progress.
Just to feel better about the last 2 1/2 years of work.

Okay, I feel way better!
And we haven't even painted or re-roofed yet.
Look how overgrown and abandoned it looked.
That's because it was wildly overgrown and dark with no one to live in it except for the racoons.

Apple blossoms hanging out making life happier.

First project of the week was to pave a sidewalk to the in law unit from the drive way.
Clay and Chester got to work.

He likes to feel tough with the shovel.

While the concrete was drying we headed off to Chester's 1st grade Dinosaur Musical. It was full of the cutest songs and jokes! Chester's line was, " What do you call a quiet dinosaur?"
Then the children said in unison, "a docile fossil!"
He played up the audience quite well (:

We arrived home to find evidence of naughty bunnies.
We have a few Benjamin and Peter Rabbit types around here.
I wanted to keep it but Clay smoothed it over but let our Chet make a hand print.

Second project from the weekend; cutting down dead trees.

We really liked this tree!
Unforgiving volatile mountain weather.
We went from 60 to negative temps the winter before last and it killed 2 of our trees.

Lucy continues to photo bomb as many pics as possible.

After all the crazy winter winds we have a yard full of sticks.
The boys were instructed to gather them up.

It's quite possible they were told multiple times to stop screwing around or to "get back here".
Boys.

Off to the fire department for chipping.

Cut logs for next winter...I wish they could just be decorative and have no function other than being cool.

These purple flowers are covering our entire backyard!
Makes for a romantic country feel.

The master suite is not finished.
We have like 20 hours of work left on it and I'm now dying.
I can't wait to make it ours.
And perhaps get in that king size bed of ours that has been in storage FOREVER.

I love our home.

I love making it feel special.

Henry had to say goodbye to his friend Ronan.
That was sad.

Always playing football.

Our girl Audrey has had pneumonia for over a week.
It's been hard to watch and hard to help but she is a fighter.

It is, isn't it?
I have learned so much about finding calm in my life.
With work schedules out of town and non stop school schedules and the wave of emotional support older children need after school I have been trying to find calm.
I find calm in spring (:
I find calm in a good long hug from Clay.
I find calm in putting my trust in God.
I find calm in my home and making it a refuge.
As much as this Milkbarn has given me opportunity to find new levels of calm, I have found peace in the process.
I'm so glad we get to live here in beautiful Boulder.
I'm so calm.....today(:

Audrey Opens Her Mission Call!

It's been so long since I wrote. but THIS! This needs to be recorded for all.  Earlier in the fall of 2024, after wondering why she hadn't had any specific experience letting her know if she should serve a mission, Audrey did receive her own personal answer. You already know. She called me and relayed her quiet yet powerful experience.   She later met with her YSA Bishop and opened her mission papers!      Everything fell into place with all her appointments and paperwork *phew  On the morning of December 31st...she received an email alerting her she had her call waiting to be opened in her missionary portal! She was all nerves haha So, we got ready and headed to Montara Beach per her request to read her call...and thankfully, we were all home to share this with her.  Such a sweet and tender moment to launch 2025 with💗 Dominican Republic  Santo Domingo East Mission! Spanish speaking June 2nd Mexico MTC after a week of home MTC :) I'm really proud...

Audrey's off! Santo Domingo East Mission

Here she is.  On a split.  In the campo(country)! Dominican Republic Time hop to May when she received her tags :) Her paper giving her permission to proselyte! Pre-mission things to do were: picture with flag at temple ✓ hikes in the sun✓ being set apart as a missionary in our home✓ home mtc p-day shenanigans✓ last taco bell supper :) ✓ hugs that need to last 18 months✓ Her first MTC phone call home. She had too much fun there but why not? This missionary mom will send you one package to the mtc... and that's it :) Upon arrival, she met her mission presidents!  Presidente y Hermana Chaverri Meeting her trainer in the field:) And after a mini transfer, meeting her new trainer! Her spanish will improve exponentially (she is from Nicaragua!)  The scripture she shared as she was in the Mexico MTC:)  I wrote it out so each day I could walk by it and remember her, and  remember the joy the gospel of Jesus Christ brings💗 I cry a little more nowadays but she has ...
