O Christmas Tree

The story of our Christmas tree.
No one froze, no one forgot the hack saw and no one sang Deck the Halls( much to my chagrin), I love carols!

We set out for the mountains to find the perfect Christmas tree...
in a snowstorm.
I kept hearing Beverly Dangelo's voice in my head from the movie Christmas Vacation saying..."Claaark?!"

I begged for Christmas music to be played but given there are a few Grinches in the family, it was just a whole lotta hoopla going on.

We chose the "Prancer" route this year.
The National Parks have a few places to cut so we headed to the one in Fraser, Colorado.

The snow stopped just for us (:

Clay spoke to a guy coming down with a good tree. We were told to hike up and in for one like his so here we are heading into the forest.

This was some seriously fluffy snow.

The sun peeking through the woods took my breath away.

Audrey was the most dedicated in finding and approving just the right tree with Dad.

Chester, thigh deep, in a snow fight.

Hauling our tree to the truck. The snow started to flutter down.
It was so pretty and not too cold.

Taking a haul break

We bought 2 tree permits so at the last minute Clay got one more and then slid down a very rocky slope unharmed.
Such an Alaskan boy.

Tying the tree down is serious business.

Trying to get warm during lunch while goofing off

And a little bit of club dancing on the way home

I am super in love with our tree.
I don't know the likelihood of doing this every year but maybe we just will.

I am also in love with my family

Oh! And another tree joined the ranks.
I surprised the girls after school with this inexpensive white tree that I trimmed in colored and clear lights.

Merry Christmas from the Collins

Take time to really look through the trees for the light.
Life can be good if we look for the good.

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
