Update #34

Isn't it?
But it can also keep you up at night, induce involuntary eye twitches and cry at inopportune times.

Milkbarn kitchen
They say the heart of the home is the kitchen.
I believe that, kitchens are where cookies are made, conversations evolve and hearts can unite.
But come on now, that is on a good day and we know that, right?

Our flooring comes in boxes.
Happy, happy boxes for me!

Clay and Audrey rising early

I did help. I don't just walk around taking photos of Clay sweating to death while working. I learned to shake the flooring out and place each strip of wood. I learned to not create "H's" in the flooring with the strips. Now that fact has me ruined as I stare at wood floors everywhere I go. I even tried to look up at the ceiling in our chapel to see if there were any H's.
But then I felt awkward, so I stopped.

Our Restoration Hardware light all wrapped up.
I'm not even trying to humble brag how cool this light is.
It's cooler than me for sure.

Master bath tiling

Speaking of tile, here are some of our selections.
After choosing the really expensive stuff, I still couldn't resist some of it.
Like the above back splash for our kitchen.

This dark tile is for our hearth.
No more white washed brick idea for me. I wanted everything to be clean and simple but not boring.
I'm willing to up the ante with tile.

My trips to Daltile documented here.

Working in the master suite.
I don't think this photo would make it into This Old House.

Trim work done and painted, wall color up in the master suite.
I chose a gray but this room and it's lighting decided it would be a soft blue(Benjamin Moore "Seattle Gray").
And then we started calling the master suite, the baby room.
And then the jokes went from there.

Tile up in the master bath!

We do have one room completed!
I humbly present the pantry to you.
Apparently, I cannot take a straight photo.

Here are some not so crooked photos below of the last few weeks!
1st Day of Mesa Elementary(Chester/1st and Audrey/4th grade)
Here is Chester trying to not cry.

Here he is losing it, sucking up the tears..."bye Mom! BYE MOM!!"
I wouldn't call him a Mama's boy but I will say, he likes me around.

Clay had a birthday and we celebrated by going to the Empire Lounge in Downtown Louisville.
I am going back, they have somehow made the perfect steak fries with cinnamon. CINNAMON!!!!

Chester going to his 1st soccer practice.
Coming home he says, "yeah, I like basketball better Mom."
Awesome.

Cotton candy sunset in our backyard last week.

Some of the girls in our Young Women group at church are heading off to college. I am so privileged to be with them and help them along their way in life. I adore this one especially. We get each other.

Okay, deep breath for this week.
Our goal is to have more than half the house done by the end of the month.
And Chester requested an X-Men themed birthday party.
No problem?

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
