Painting the Milkbarn

Possible exterior paint Two years ago I wrote a post about paint colors I wanted to use in the Milkbarn.  At one point, there were 21 samples up around the house painted on sections of wall.  Warm whites, cool whites, gray in every tone, creams... it kind of made me crazy(kind of means it did).  I thought somehow finding paint would ease my mind about how bad of shape the house was in. Come to find out, paint cannot fix everything! The best way to get the right colors is to: 1. live in the space for 2 years (okay, I'm kidding there) 2. look outside and see what colors of nature you can pull in 3.  get some swatches up and watch how they look throughout the day (this includes night time!) 4. Paint should show off the room rather than hide it 5. If it puts a smile on your face, you got it.    This is the cheat sheet I illustrated for the Milkbarn.  That way I could see how the color moved throughout the house. ...

Master Sweetness

A reminder of what was once our master suite.  The wild and creepy jungle room.  Wonderful dead plants, a built in creek, a Bali inspired mural, wooden bridge, bench swing....it's like Fantasy Island was happening right here at the Milkbarn back in the 70's!   After sub flooring was put in. Pre-sub flooring with Anders. Pre pre sub flooring and getting all the earth out of the jungle room.  These memories are so vague.  Hmmmm... almost like my brain blocks it all out. Taken 2 years ago.  Still, hardly believe this even happened. Like, how did we even get that thing in the house?? And now, all cleaned up and almost ready to inhabit!!! Looking from the main room into the master bedroom. We took the hickory flooring into the bedroom and the closets. Nice tall windows to our yard.  Trimmed in a craftsman style in decorator white semi gloss.  Sconces by Pottery Barn.  ...
