The second day of our trip we headed out to the very back of Kings Canyon.
I had no idea what it was or what it was about.
My whole expectation of this trip was pretty low since we knew nothing except every travel tip declared it the less visited park next to Sequoia.
Turns out it was a gem!
We decided to go to the end of the canyon and work our way through the park.
Here is a shot looking down and I thought...
huh, this looks a lot like hot San Bernardino.
So, at first glance the only thing that impressed me was the road ribboning down into ...somewhere?
My first impression was way off.
That winding road led us down to a pine filled paradise!
We stopped at Zumwalt Meadow first for our lunch.
The air was clean and smelled again of sweet pine.
It felt like the perfect day to meander through the park.
The South Fork Kings River didn't look too deadly here :)
But it did much later!
"Rivers flow not past us, but through us"
John Muir
I think he relished in getting his first summer mosquito bites here in the meadow.
The bridge was washed out so we had to turn around, the other side of the trail was burned out.
So...we hopped in the car after this for our next stop.
That granite though!
Next stop was Roaring River Falls just off the road.
Basically a gushing waterfall with cooling mists.
We sat and had some quiet time.
I think we were all taking this in, deep in thought.
There has been so much commotion in the world.
So much to take in and carefully think about.
How do we help change hearts?
How do we stay strong.
In these moments, our testimonies are all growing and being shaped.
We are all God's children.
Noone wanted to really leave but there was a waterfall down the road to check out!
So off we went.
Grizzly Falls :)
Chester and I checked it out and told everyone to grab their slides
so they could play in the water :)
Chester's smile was plastered on his face all afternoon:)

Heading out of the canyon!
Looking down on the river
We stopped for ice cream.
So many small businesses have been hit hard from all the quarantining and shut downs. What's worse? Being sick or being in dire straits?
It has really been sad to watch places close up.
Looking down one more time
We headed to Grant Grove to check out the General Grant tree and more sequoias :)
The General Grant tree
Even the ants are huge here
walked through a hollowed out sequoia!
I had to laugh when I saw how long all these legs looked.
Clay and I made human sequoias :)
Kings Canyon was low on people and big on beauty.
It did our souls good.
