Octoblur: Fire & Halloween

My dinner before the Canyon Jazz Pop Concert
haha

Lucy with her good friend Emma :) I adore her!

I told them to start a band already!
(here is their album cover)

Lucy gladly sings alto and Henry is one of the jazz pianists
(as well as percussion, vibraphone, etc)

October was busy...there was the vacation part

the basketball season beginning part

oh, and my favorite part! Halloween!

Lucy rockin' out for a choir halloween party

visiting Elder Stannings in Bakersfield for his last Sunday. He is the real deal. He joined the church in Boulder while in high school. We are big fans of Byron!

Spent a day in SF
glorious

the halloween windows at Britex: RIP fast fashion

date with the best guy to spend my time (and life) with :)

the next day the Santa Ana winds were howling. SCE turned off the power so I had no way of knowing what was happening. Then the LAFD helicopters came and refilled behind my home on the hill...it didn't seem like a drill this time...so I went out to see and found this

I took Chester and Audrey and headed down to get Henry at Canyon. Lucy got stuck in gridlocked traffic and she couldn't get home. Law enforcement would not let anyone into Sand Canyon. So we were separated :(

We were evacuated at 3:30 am. We were reuinited withLucy at midnight by the grace of good people we knew in another ward. Being a cop, he drove her home for us. It was so good to be together again. Clay flew in the next day. We picked him up and headed down to Carlsbad for beds at Marty and Diane's home and some Juanitas :)

signs of Halloween in Leucadia :)

.
We were able to repopulate our canyon late that night so we headed home!
What an experience.
We have never dealt with fires but we were prepared with a 72 hour kit that we just restocked the previous Monday night.
There is so much peace in being prepared and leaving to make way for first responders.

The next day I made Halloween costumes!
Sewing is good therapy:)
Here is Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Phineas and Candace from Phineas and Ferb!

PHINEAS!

Lucy and Emma
we headed to another ward party since ours was cancelled. Emma was the fairy godmother from Shrek. Adorable!

Chester has been reading Harry Potter so he wanted to be a Hufflepuff for his "real" Halloween costume :)

Audrey dressed as an elephant who annoys her brother
haha

My sister came out with Ella, Daniel and Jonah :)
the winds stopped, our power came on!
just in time for her to save our halloween!

Audrey made a jack o' lantern cake

Audrey found a quote that said "You know what you call people
'who don't like halloween? You call them boring"
haha
Henry doesn't really like it...or Clay

Marcie and I stole a few hours away to magic mountain

Most friday nights have been spent at the Canyon football games to watch Henry and the marching band. He has a good time doing it.
He is a performer :)

And they did really well in their competitions too!

And here is my October project.
I made a goal to do a make a month!
And Audrey wanted a Halloween skirt
And I cannot separate Halloween from Charlie Brown...or Thanksgiving too :)

Octoblur was one for the Collins memory books

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
