Scouting California

Glenwood Springs
Here we are on a quickly decided trip to California.

Clay forgot to book his ticket in all the chaos of finishing the Milkbarn, so we drove out with him in one shot.
My plan was to visit schools and see homes and have the kids visualize where they will be living soon!

some excitement, some trepidation

frisbee stretch

gross!

exactly

After driving the first 10 hours, we switched seats and I got to look at those desert clouds

I love clouds and have been contemplating for sometime to make a mixed media selection of work with clouds.

Lucy the 16 year old!

While checking everything out we got a dose of reality with temps hitting 107.
We aren't in Kansas anymore :)

good thing we had a hotel pool

Buenavista Beach
We had a day in between school visits and home shopping, so we headed an hour to the beach!
It was a nice local stop and clean and fun

a couple blocks from the beach was a great frozen yogurt place :)

Here we are sitting in someone's courtyard while looking at the house...still so hot!

Returned to Boulder and captured these moments of low clouds moving fast through the flatirons

and a beautiful sunrise on the Milkbarn

The kids are feeling okay but there are tears about leaving friends and beautiful Boulder. It has not been easy. There have been a lot of challenges to this move. I still know it was the right thing to do and where we need to be. I'm not sure why I thought there would be some amount of ease in the move.
It is also hard to watch "hard" happen to your children.
I know it will strengthen them.
I can't take it away and if I did I would be depriving them of growth. We are moving to a really different kind of place, it will take awhile to adjust but I plan on celebrating each accomplishment for all of them.
I haven't been the best and most calm mother either.
But I am excited to go, to reach, to try harder and to see what life has for us there.
So far, warm summer nights are there and perfect :)

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
