Hei Hei from Norway!

Is this a dream?
Are we here?
I was trying to play it cool but inside, I was exploding with excitement, awe, and maybe some nerves:)
NORWAY...we have arrived!

Our first stop in Norway was a port in the town of Flam.
It was a magnificent day.
I woke up at 4:30am, did a lot of walking on the upper deck loop as we slowly cruised through the fjord.
It was truly remarkable!
Clay chose our tour for the day to a "Viking Village"
It was kind of a joke/tourist trap:(
BUT...
located in an incredible valley with so much to see.
I wished our bus could have just stopped a dozen times to take it all in :)
Our stop (before the tourist trap) was here at Tvindefossen:)

Clay was incredibly sick but determined to go on the tour he chose. For two people who grew up around tourists and tourists on buses...we swallowed are pride and realized, it was easier this way and it was paid for.
Although, our tour guide could have been the worst we have ever had! It was laughable.
Truly.
He rambled about water and pointing out schools and now we have an inside joke for life...
"here is a school, the school is important for the children"😂
said tourist trap
The water is just unimaginably clean and green or blue green.
Spectacular!

Back at our port in Flam, we shopped and had lunch on the boat, then Clay needed to lie down and sleep.
So I scoped out spots from our room and headed out on my own!
The weather could not be beat.
I was so happy.

At the end of the day, I logged over 20,000 steps!
It felt great after a day at sea
(and after getting seasick too, bleh)
We left at 5:30pm on the dot.
We sailed through the fjord pausing and turning the ship to see some waterfalls.
My favorite part was just sailing by all the farms and houses dotting the steep hills along the water.
Our second stop in Norway was in Olden :)
They have their own water they get from their glacier up the valley, hence the cute bottle.
I signed us up for a tour of Njordford, this time we had a delightful guide!
Such a pretty day, rain sprinkles here and there.
Again, look at that water!

I loved how the walking path is about children. They love their children! But it is a country with a very low birth rate, so each child is very well taken care of.
It was sweet to see:)
Before our tour, we just walked around. There wasn't much to look at in terms of the town but good to get Clay out.
He was hanging in there, but still feverish and sick!
Children walking in safety vests:)
(maybe my new favorite thing)
Life looks so good in Norway!
By now I was in love with all the little homes.
The country has a definite aesthetic-white, gold or red homes all over. Gray moved in later...For me, it seemed perfect. I like less. My brain thinks better with less:)

Our guide told us there are 4 seasons in Norway-
June, July, August and Winter😂

a series of us in our Norwegian color scheme:)

even the weeds were charming!

Our tour ended and they launched our boat the minute we got on...
here is a scene out our window of the towns dotting the fjords.

It's like a super clean , classy Alaska-that's what Clay said.
Our last stop was Bergen, the second largest city in Norway.
We did not have enough time there!
Our goals were:
1.window shop
2. find furniture/houseware/design shops
3. eat locally made baked goods
4. walk off the beaten away the tourists!
5. eat a non cruise lunch because at this point, we were pretty tired of the food and feeling like we were being herded around. Downside of cruising...
the wharf
fish markets
more children in the city on a little fieldtrip:)

trolls are a big thing there, apparently they live in the mountains

Clay was finally feeling better!
and then my throat was starting to feel a little something:(

We successfully avoided the funicular crowds!
we found the baked goods and local apple cider...so good, I wish I could go back and eat that all over again alongside my cold pear/apple drink!
oldest school(schoooool) in Norway!
my favorite find
I bet I would like to laugh with this person about life over lunch
narrow path paved in cobblestone:)

and all the welcoming charm at everyone's doorsteps
I have an affection for good doorway:)
and shops
and lighting

me shopping and being spoken too in Norwegian was a highlight for me!
Pride is celebrated all through the country:)
even the water glasses are chic
I could not get enough, if I could have bought a bunch of dishes there...
I would have!

So long Bergen, what a delightful and charming city that was underrated by the vlogger travel set.
Maybe my tastes aren't the same as theirs anyway.
Were they seeing what we were seeing?
Apparently not:)

🚩We loved Norway🚩
Charming, clean, good people, peaceful, and beyond beautiful.

Clay made this trip work for me, it was almost canceled due to his work. I am really grateful we got to go.
It was such a bummer he was sick, luckily the cruise just kept us going!

I cannot wait to travel again...
I feel like it's been waiting for me my whole life, and it's about time to make it happen:)

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
