Captains Log: Weeks 1 and 2

Distance learning has begun due to the COVID19 pandemic.
We are out of school until May 5th but have heard indications that it will last until the end of the school year!
How sad will that be?
Here is Chester's painting.
I had them pick something in the yard and paint it.
I think he did just great here. He was doubting himself.
I asked him if he was super good at football when he first got on a team.
Well,  why do you think you need to be good the first time you try something?

Since being dismissed from school it has been raining, cloudy and just cold here. This was a welcome day in the sun.

I still got it!

We have been taking daily walks. I send the middle 2 out on a "tiktok walk" . haha
They leave, they get outside, they make weird videos, they bond and then come home and report their creation to me :)
It's a win for both parties!

I'm so glad I have the kids at home.
There is nothing more important for me to do then to be an anchor right now.

There is a nice 3.5 mile walk through our neighborhood and the closed golf course, so that has been so nice.
Here is that 2nd day of sun we had :)

My friend Holli shared how her kids wrote messages in their neighborhood, so we copied the idea!
 It turned out cheerful.
That was  our intent, to bring cheer to our neighbors.
Audrey said she saw someone take a picture of it on their walk :)
It washed away with last weeks rain :(
It could turn into a Charlotte's Web thing though?

Last week's cloudy day Home Economics lesson was donut making by Dad!

We realized we couldn't share them due to the virus, so we ate all of them and gained a couple of pounds :0
 haha

Henry has a music system called ableton and he has been creating some really cool stuff!

My birthday came and went. Here I am on my 4th birthday.
(I have been going through rooms and closets organizing as my version of mom homeschooling!)

Birthday Love!

We went to a bakery/ lunch spot near Clay's work :)

The sun came out and it was about 60...and I jokingly said, you guys should swim in the jacuzzi!
No time was wasted in finding swimsuits, haha.

it looks warm but it was freeeezing

warming up after some of them got in.
Chester did like 4 cannon balls!
crazy

In all of this craziness, we still continue to fulfill our church callings. I have been sending all of the primary children handwritten notes.
And I got one back!
He happens to be a favorite of mine. He is a great young man in the making :)

We fasted today for worldwide relief from the corona virus. We each had different things on our mind. We got a call this morning that Grandma in Alaska is in the hospital as well :(
So we have been thinking of her and fasting her for too.
It was a special time to have the sacrament in our home.
This might be my favorite church yet!
We shared our testimonies. And some tears.

Lucy's testimony centered on reading the scriptures and discovering how important they really are to her.

Henry talked about how it's been nice to have a break from all the hurrying around and busyness of people.
He has been at peace this whole time with himself:)

Audrey shared her feelings about how she knows God has a plan for each of us. That she learned that before we moved here.

Chester tearfully spoke about how the Holy Ghost has been a comforter to him. He told us he has had good thoughts and memories replace sad ones so he has been happy.

Clay shared many thoughts about how God will make these trials for our benefit.

I shared about faith and moving forward.

I am immensely grateful right now for this time of growth.

Co Captain signing off for now...

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
