First Days of New

First Day of school in California!

Standing outside the Fairfield Inn and Suites
Hotel breakfast for the win!
(Although after day 5 the smell of hotel cheese eggs was making me nauseous, I swear it was in the halls, in my clothes...EGGS EVERYWHERE blah!)

New 4th grader

New 7th grader
New Junior and Freshman

The first week of school was spent at the hotel
and I will just say it was an adventure in patience.
I don't ever EVER want to do that adventure again.

After a week of losing our minds, Clay found a condo for us and we happily shopped Costco to buy mattresses and food.
Because that's all you really need...in an empty condo.
IKEA on a Saturday in Burbank is like...well...none other

the condo and all of it's glory

So, why are we not in a house yet?
Good question!
First we backed out of an offer when the seller wouldn't go down in price.
Gosh, it was a beautiful home but behind a gate with a very large hoa fee for said gate that I knew I would come to resent!

Then, we were in escrow on a house we were excited about but after SEVERAL signs from the universe (including exorbitant amounts of money to maintain and fix it) and I think terrible sellers, we backed out. 2 days after we got here. It would have been like a Milkbarn but without the good vibes and twice the size but the backyard looked like an episode of Dynasty, haha or Downton Abbey as my sister told me :)

So, another home came on the market and I thought,
I love the street! Same schools! Good price for the area! Well maintained!
Gosh, I hope they don't want a 45 day close...

and now we are in 45 day close

I drove by last night and saw they had moving pods in their driveway
YAY!
(can you hurry up please?!?)
see? I am not patient

45 days is a long time for me to NOT make plans to remodel...

I know, I know
but I can't help myself
90's over haul here I come :)
or not? maybe just updates here and there

haha

Why did I think this part of myself would end?
Laundry room first because look ↓ at those walls

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
