the roof, the chicken coop, and some pumpkins

The roof is done! the roof is done! the roof is done!

Well, almost...

When we decided on a roof it was for a couple of reasons
1. The insurance company did not cover our roof
2. the insurance company did not cover our roof

Also, the roof maker did not make that shingle anymore so that is kind of a problem!

We decided on a metal roof because we wanted it. We liked the way it looked and Clay wanted to learn how to install one. It has been a long process and each time he asks me to go up and help him, I do and I don't think I have ever been so cautious doing anything else around here.

We need to build a well house for the well and put pavers here for a nice front patio type thing. Still need to paint.
I have a lot to say about living in a fixer upper. Living with work at hand. Sometimes I think that is all we do. It might seem that way. I don't know in the end what kind of effect this will have on our family.Time will tell me that. I mean, right now I hear their groans in my head when I tell them to "get dressed to help Dad", so I can tell you now it is not fun half of the time!

But look here, they are having fun building their chicken coop house.
They asked Clay for gravel to level the ground for their flooring. haha!

more photos of fall around here

oh yeah, also fall around here
Not my favorite part!
It was heavy and took down some branches, bummer!

behind the elementary school
It always looks like it's parked under a resort when the snow comes
Where's the hot cocoa chalet?

Back to regular fall
she really really wanted to go to a pumpkin patch

we found one!
it's like 50 lbs too

it was a family run farm and we loved it

Also, this past weekend we had fun at our cub camp for Chester

view from the campground

view from the cubs doing the morning dishes!

I still don't know what gaga ball is but they had fun

the teen and tweens on our hike
our new pack has our fun neighbors in it!

the summit of the hike over looking Boulder canyon and looking out to the continental divide

right about when I took this photo the wind kicked up, cold air flowing in...I could see snow coming down in the distance

we headed back down, clear but so windy. All the cubs did great. Chester announced he was the first bear to summit...
to anyone who would listen

that night I made dinner for Lucy and her friends for homecoming
they all got ready here and I got to listen to all the talk of a 15 year old girl, all the hope in their voices, loved it.

ready to go!
she had a fun time

and I just added these for good measure for the grandparents

oh yeah, and we hung out at an old barn

and before I go, I thought I'd include a before and after shot from one angle of the house
before: lava rock water feature/stereo system/hideousness

ta-da!
lava rock gone
dungeon look gone
although when you have a black piano
it just screams to be a part of Halloween!

Next post: Halloween and maybe something else Clay might start
but I also must include this:
my mom had a heart blockage and could have died last week
but she is here with a pace maker
life is short
tell someone you love them
rise above the negative
 be a light to others
smile
laugh with your kids
put your phone down
forgive and seek forgiveness

and if you ever decide to go for 4 years on a fixer upper and still not be done, you might look like this...
a little weathered but tempered by time
whatever you may be going through right now, I know there is peace.
Not right away but it comes :)

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
