The Land of What Ifs

Times Square, New York City
7:20 am

My short story goes like this:
When I was 28 I had begun a clothing line (finally!) and it had success, although small the signs were good. The clothing sold out in each store, it was commented that the fit was excellent which was my calling card...good fit and fabric.
So, I worked on my business at night and had a job with a software company by day. I went to NYC for a fabric buying trip and came home resolved to move there. We had a new york office, I made a call. They said maybe they could make room for me there,
but this was "off the record"
Lucky Magazine(which might not be in print because I don't know these things anymore) came to my small shared apartment in sf to view my line after seeing it in a boutique.
This was it!

after I decided to move to new york...

I met Clay
we met in San Francisco
he will tell anyone he left Alaska to find a woman :)

So, when I go to New York, it is me being somewhere
in the land of what if's

my mom always told me the most important decision you make is who you marry

there are a lot of options out there to choose from in life
sometimes they look the same but there are subtleties that will make you happier in the end

I spent the day looking at fabric, architecture, art, visiting with my friend Sarina, eating good food, etc

I have a list :)

Spending time with Sarina, who I have known since we were 19 at BYU, was a gift. I could see the beautiful life she has built with her husband and boys. We touched on the subject of "can you believe this is our life? did you ever think you would live on the east coast? or me in Boulder?"

I'm 46.
Those older than me will say, you are so young!
But I know those younger may think we 46 year olds have this clear vision of life and where we are headed.
In terms of living a christlike life, I have that vision even though I stumble.
But in return for that, we are often led away from the things we so desire for something more eternal.
I might not have had New York,
but I have an equally busy, loud, cool, art filled life right here. Or at least I try and make it that way.
And I know I can take that anywhere :)

But man, I 💗 NY

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
