Hey June

Hey June
We started off our summer by getting away for 3 days for our 16th anniversary.
Gifts never seem to happen for our anniversaries but I have to say getting away is the best present we could give each other.
We have wonderful friends who took the kids in!

I arrived at LAX,
Clay picked me up and immediately we headed up to Santa Monica!
Perfect weather

perfect food

perfect shopping in the LA garment district
fabric fabric fabric
of course I stuffed as much as I could in our carry on bag home!

perfect drinks!

Santee Alley
(tourist trap but still fun)

Before we dated I overheard Clay talking about fabric shopping at Britex in San Francisco and I already knew he had a mustang in his garage.
I basically knew before I even "liked" him I would marry him.
True story.

We drove up to Santa Barbara where we breathed in as much salt air as possible

Coming home I went right back to mom duties
and Clay flew out for work duties...
this is our life.

Our neighbor sold us a much needed lawn mower and now Henry is an excellent driver and budding landscaper

Audrey is dipping her toes into ballet.
The Boulder Ballet School offered a beginning teen course.
I asked on a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you like the class?
Not skipping a beat she replied...9.5, uh probably a 10 Mom.

With everything we have kept busy helping Clay roof.
Mainly, picking up shingles. They are all off!
so it's pretty exciting to say the least

Lake Dillon
Last summer me and the kids would do Colorado field trips during the week. This summer I asked each of them to choose one.
 First up was Chester's choice!
Sister Lewis, his primary teacher at church sent him a postcard from her place up in the mountains and so...he said he wanted to see!
We headed up for a day picnic, lake playing and exploring Lake Dillon and the little mountain town of Frisco.

Seriously, anywhere we can go where there is water and sun
...this one turns into a little lizard!

Main Street in Frisco at their historic museum with little school desks

Back at home, Henry got a guitar for landscaping all summer and here is Clay wishing they could both play music together...
Someday

Going to Boy Scout Camp!
Henry was gone for a full week. Kayaking, archery, wilderness survival(he made his own shelter and slept in a trash bag!)and environmental science was covered.

Hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park

Reaching Lake Bierstadt
and we found where all the mosquitoes are in RMNP

picking out Christmas trees!

We were pelted(assaulted) with hail...ouch!
I stood over the kids trying to protect them,
I tried.
It was a bonding experience for sure!

Switching gears to Audrey's activity days special night for daughters and Dad's.
She was beyond excited. It was so well planned with a dinner and talent show...Audrey and Clay told jokes!

Calder sculptures!
Field trip #2: Lucy chose the Denver Botanic Gardens.
It was delightful! From the outdoor romantic gardens, the Japanese tea garden, the indoor hot and humid tropical gardens.
It was a treat. We ate at the Hive Garden restaurant and the food was really tasty! It was such a fun day!

And now that it has turned to July,
we are hopefully going to paint the south side of the house with swatches to pick out a house color.
 White or white or white?
😕

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
