Hello from the Milkbarn Makeover!
It's been awhile.
Not much has been done lately but many of you have asked if it is completed.
I mean, it has been 3 and a half years, what's the hold up?
So here is a serious punch list for the next year.
#1
Master bath not quite finished STILL.
Back splash marble strip needs to get sealed.
But how cute are those faucets!?!?!?!
We found them for $99 at the home depot and Clay loved me enough to pull out the ones I didn't like and installed these.
#2
So, I'm kneeling in the shower to show you we are short 4 tiles to finish the shower.
We need to special order them and both Clay and I are having a hard time getting this done. Sigh.
Phone calls are a struggle!
#3
So, the door is not installed for the "throne" area and we need to paint the trim and seriously touch up the poor painting job I did. Double sigh.
#4
Turning around from the last photo is a bit of a mess.
Instead of a standing bath tub,
I am going to put my sewing nook here.
In my bathroom.
Basically, every bit of space is getting utilized here!
And I am excited to have my machine up under so much light!
Sewing nook dreaming
I made a goal to make everything possible with the fabric I own without buying anything new.
HILARIOUS!
I have a small, beautiful stash and it feels like the right time in my life to get creative again.
I started a slow fashion instagram account called @in_the_seam
a play on words for in the middle.
That's me
Right smack dab...in the middle of life.
I kind of like it a lot!
#5
Okay, speaking of seams, we need to trim out all the floor transitions through the house.
I imagine this not happening anytime soon :)
#6
This one should get done soon.
Trim around the kitchen counter top and outlet covers needed BADLY.
#7
At some point we want to build built in shelving for our pantry.
We need a lot more room for at least 10 boxes of cold cereal:)
For now the Costco rack is working it.
#8
Our first fail.
We did the bathroom first, 3 years ago. We trimmed everything out in beautiful wainscoting and then installed the window...uh...that will not work.
Window is good, wainscoting needs to be trimmed lower to fit the window.
This is probably down the line with those floor transitions :)
#9
Instead of a Lowes moving box holding all the boys books on the ground, Clay is going to design and build the shelves for their room.
That first shelf was just a tease?
As for the exterior of the Milkbarn?
Where do we begin?
It could be years to accomplish something I would be proud of but we have some time and some kids who need to work.
First off, we need to finish this siding though.
#10
We need to install vents to the crawl space and take off our
raccoon barricades!
#11
We need to paint the house.
I think I'm still into white but a greenish white.
Maybe....
#12
And then our poor roof...
after every windstorm there are shingles all of the yard.
They don't even make these shingles anymore!
So, we are hoping to get a metal roof on in just a galvanized look.
(it's the cheapest)
#13
When we re roof the place we need to cut the eves back to the siding.
They are rotting and our windows get stuck when we crank them out in the summer.
This makes me nervous especially doing it ourselves!
#14
Our front door is adorned with this lovely "gazebo"
We want to wipe all this out and make a patio with a rustic pergola.
I want to get galvanized steel tubs and put some pretty flowers in them...etc, etc
#15
Oh yeah, that darn driveway needs to get finished.
#16
Who wants to buy a 66' Mustang?
This has to go now before we have kids that can drive it :)
Also, to make room for the 1941 Ford in this trailer
#17
Sidenote: boys have been waiting to build this go cart with Dad
#18
We have more to haul to the dump too.
I'm feeling really anxious at this point.
Not sure I should have done this post.
I have to say when I walk around the property I get a bit panicky. Wishing I could just snap my fingers right now like Samantha Stevens from Bewitched and clean it all up!
It does overwhelm me.
#19
We have some sheds we'd like to knock down and build one big shed.
I want to paint the new shed a barn red
because how cute will that be?
#20
And the garden plot of dreams...
But I don't think our driveway will ever look less "industrious" as our neighbor put it.
I thought that was a nice way of saying it was a good white trash look.
The Milkbarn on a dry, warm February day:)
Last week we had inversion though.
It happens about once a year here.
It is moody but makes the prettiest outlines on the tree branches.
Hand prints on the finished drive way :)
January has been busy but quiet at the same time.
The bookends making cookies together
Audrey turning 11 as we turn the corner to February
Waiting for 12 of her friends to come over!
My heart is happy thinking about all the progress we have made on the house.
And then my heart freaks out with all of what is left as well.
I feel very much in the middle of it all and for the most part,
I am okay with that.
↞Happy heart day to all of you from the Collinses↠
