The Heated Milkbarn Thanksgiving

This month, and just in the nick of time,
heat was added to ALL Milkbarn rooms.
It was a Thanksgiving miracle!!!

We have an old but very reliable boiler the house came with, so we opted to keep that for our heating system.
We have radiator heaters complete throughout the home.
Here is the heated towel rack for the master bathroom
(unfinished but so close)

After the first night with heat in my bedroom, I didn't want to get out of bed :)
It took so long because of the labor intensive work, all the right tools and time to do it.
Clay was under the house for a few days over break.
Working in the crawl space is dirty, cramped, and pretty claustrophobic. Lucy was his helper with no complaints.
The Milkbarn was so poorly insulated and heated that it was a wonder we lived the 1st two winters huddling around the wood burning stove.
I am grateful for that experience though.
I am grateful we all lived through some little house on the prairie moments.
I do not take heat for granted.

So true. It's easy to set aside gratitude.

I am grateful for Chester. He has a football sized heart.

We are so grateful the Shuman cousins came out for the week to spend break with us!
Each night, the kids were exhausted from playing
 all.day.long.

NCAR visit

Grateful to Lucy.
She brings ease and joy into any heart she touches.

Grateful for my sister.
She teaches me about life without her probably realizing it.

The husbands on Pearl Street, Thanksgiving Eve.

This reminds me of that Three Stooges episode with the turkey that walked on the table...or that Friends episode.
Who had the turkey on their head?

Thanksgiving Day!

Football of course

Resident Roll Baker

The next day we headed to the ice rink.
 It was so warm!
My kids can barely skate. It's more like hobbling or sliding.
The Shuman cousins glided around effortlessly.

Farewell November.
We are done smashing your leaves down.

The kids have stacked wood for winter...kind of.
That actually happens all winter.
Mean Mom.

We are hoping we can finish the master suite during Christmas break. And then...THAT'S IT!
The interior of the Milkbarn will be complete.
I mean we have a small punchlist but really!

 To quote Donald Trump...
this is HUGE

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
