Spring Progress Report: 2 1/2 Years

Spring clean up has commenced!  And I kept thinking I needed to look at that first photo of the Milkbarn that I took.  Just to see the progress.  Just to feel better about the last 2 1/2 years of work. Okay, I feel way better! And we haven't even painted or re-roofed yet. Look how overgrown and abandoned it looked. That's because it was wildly overgrown and dark with no one to live in it except for the racoons . Apple blossoms hanging out making life happier. First project of the week was to pave a sidewalk to the in law unit from the drive way.  Clay and Chester got to work. He likes to feel tough with the shovel. While the concrete was drying we headed off to Chester's 1st grade Dinosaur Musical. It was full of the cutest songs and jokes! Chester's line was, " What do you call a quiet dinosaur?" Then the children said in unison, "a docile fossil!" He played up the audience quite well (:

Driveway Dreams

When I said we would be taking a break I didn't think it would be this long! Winter + Clay's new job(out of town even more than I thought) + life  + construction funds at zero = a break. It felt good to take a break. okay, breaks over! Clay and I decided that a concrete driveway was in order. We both want a basketball hoop up for the kids to play and I would like less dirt ( like way less dirt )  in our daily life here at the Milkbarn. Without fail, there is always a pile of something somewhere on our property.  Fortunately, this pile was spread out later for the driveway. It wouldn't be a project if we didn't get ahead of ourselves and dig up the front walk so we can get pavers down instead of the skinny haphazard sidewalk to the house.  I'd like a nice curved path to the front door.  Noone ever knows where the door is!  I hope the walkway can help guide friends and UPS drivers alike.
