Welcome back to the Milkbarn! We have finally ripped the whole main room out. |
It smells as good as it looks. Come over, I'll take you for a tour! Don't worry, we have masks.
RIP alpine lake mural wall. We had some good times together.
Sitting under you contemplating burning the house down....
yes, good times.
Demolishing the hearth.
I cannot wait to whitewash a new brick we'll use for it!
We had knotty pine paneling in the living space. We wanted to save it to reuse but it was so old and brittle, all of it just broke off into pieces.
Close up of the spectacular alpine lake mural.
You're right. That says Collins Kids Perfect Miral. |
Our 1st Christmas vacation here at the Milkbarn and I let the kids write and draw all over the mural, thinking it would be coming down by summer and how cool it would be as a memory.
Of course I was wrong.
Why would I be right about anything here?
If there is one thing the Milkbarn has taught me is that I am usually mistaken, like 97% of the time.
Someone is falling into the lake here. It may have been an omen foretelling our relationship with this house. |
But here is the good news.
Life can turn around and so can a house.
Here we are on our 14th anniversary picking out our future kitchen.
It was exciting enough for me to almost cry.
Who am I kidding? Of course I cried.
And here are some photos of the in law unit. After taking these photos I realized they don't quite do it justice. It's a lovely place to call home(and clean! did I mention clean!?!)
holy cow, with a dishwasher too!
#tears
Is it weird I am showing you my bed? Probably.
Light fixtures by Lowes. No more hillbilly chandeliers.
Yee haw!
We pulled our dining table out from storage that Clay built for me. I have been saving this white chair for almost 2 years to use.
Our cute kitchen.
Living space.
I gave in and went for orange in the place.
I have no idea how to take photos of a bathroom. I had myself up against walls, in the shower stall and all it proves is...
all bathroom photos are awkward.
My apologies.
The day we moved into the apartment, Audrey made us a sign after Clay told her none of them were allowed in.So now they call it a clubhouse but trust me, they are in here non stop.
We love our 600 square foot abode!
Later this weekend Lucy and Clay worked together framing in rafter ties to raise the ceiling in the Milkbarn( it has very low ceilings and we are opening up to 9 foot ceilings).
You are looking at two peas in a pod here.
I asked Clay what it was like to work alongside himself all day, he replied, "very enjoyable".
Doesn't everyone load wood scraps in a fedora?
Please stop by if you are going out to the canyon! We love drop ins!
Jennifo, you are hilarious. Loved reading the update! Favorite picture was the detail of someone falling into a lake on the mural. I mean, on the miral.
