Cubanapolis!

Making his cardboard car for Cubanapolis with Audrey He was the only kid there who clearly made his own car.  Come on cub scout dad's and pinterest moms.  He is so great though, he didn't even care. Webelos 1 Pack 48 ready to rumble! Their leader instructing them.  1. Run around loop once, get windshield wiped  (meaning mom wipes off the number on his cheek) 2. Run lap and fuel up (meaning, mom shoves cup of water down his throat) 3. Run lap and change tires (meaning mom pulls off shoes and socks. Switches socks to other foot. Put shoes back on. So really this means...  mom pulls off sweaty socks. Hurriedly pulls them up leaving a big ball of sock fabric at the toe. Crams shoes on with sock fabric balled up, boy runs 2 laps more to finish line) Chester places 2nd :) if only those socks weren't so sweaty It was worth the effort for the fun. Brilliant cub scouts!

My Stars: Young Women in Excellence

Audrey is a beehive, working towards her personal progress goals. She shared with us her study of the Proclamation of the Family,  she shared that a mother was  so important to Heavenly father and to the world :) Lucy accomplished her Personal Progress last spring in Colorado :) YAY! She shared how she learned practical skills from Clay and I...sewing and construction :) It was a delight to be there and support this amazing program for the young women. The beehives are so sweet.  My heart melts over them :)The Laurels are confident.  The mia maids are finding their footing.  I am proud of my girls learning to make goals now that will bless their lives later 💖💕💖

Sister Weekend

My sister Marcie planned to see Leslie so I decided to hop along and see them both.  I really just needed a break.  The move is still hard on me in so many ways. We met in Salt Lake City and stopped for breakfast (see above) then headed to the Church History Museum on Temple Square. An exhibit just opened of some work by Henry B. Eyring. Detailed watercolors of memories and moments in his life. It inspired me to want to paint again and I could see how it could be doable as a person as busy as himself. He said he felt guilty taking the time to do it. That hit home for me...I feel guilty now about doing something creative. Inspired me to change the way I think about it. When Lucy was on Trek in Wyoming she had the privilege to speak about John Linford in the place that he died.  By happenstance, here I saw his wife's wedding dress at the museum.  She was with him when he died on the mormon trail with the Willie Handcart company. we ...

Angeles National Forest Getaway

We decided  (Clay decided)  we should camp out in the Angeles National Forest as a family.  We arrived in the parking lot to hike in around 4pm. We had 2 hours to make it 4.5 miles into Spruce Grove before dark. The spot he likes to go to. He kept telling me how beautiful it was(and it was! noone there too). And then Henry informed me the hike was hard....oh man, I was not prepared for it with a pack and almost all up hill.  I haven't really exercised since last April. So, I was in for it... stopping on the trail As I kept hiking up, bringing up the rear, I could see all my children leading the way. It was really emotional for me to see that. I thought to myself, they have followed me for so long and here I am, following them. Audrey was setting the pace which was incredible since all the hikes we did in Colorado...she "hated". At one point, I didn't think I could make it.  I cried and limped my way up hoping noone would see me. I kept ...
