Summer of '20/ Part One: Two Hour Tourists

Part One:
being a 2 hour tourist in our city of Los Angeles!

I wish more was open for our two hour tourists trips but we'll take what we can get right now.
Covid expectations are real here.

A bucket list must see...the Hollywood Sign
It was fun and the marine layer rolled in to keep it cool for a good morning trip :)

A rare photo with me and Henry.
He voluntarily put his arm around me :)
A milestone for the teen.

Next stop was the Griffith Observatory which is located in Griffith Park!
(made famous by the movie, Rebel Without A Cause)

two goobers mugging for the camera

The new way everyone wears their masks here

contemplation of her future was happening this day,
it was sweet to capture her in that moment

Chester telling Henry he's doing it wrong, haha

marine layer burning off, seeing the Hollywood sign from the park...
the park has lots of wide trails to hike, run, or whatever on but I think I'm a hiking snob because of living in Boulder...too dusty and open here.
 And no shady woods!
So, I'd rather sight see without eating everyone's literal dust :)

A very fun afternoon on Rodeo Drive in
Beverly Hills.
Another bucket list two hour tourist thing to do!

Mom!
 there is the GUCCI store!
This is just like Clueless

me wanting these dresses

a famous Sprinkles sprinkle cupcake

The iconic Beverly Hills palm trees lining residential streets.
Also, super nice people and polite drivers...I was impressed!
And I admit, a little surprised.

An ATM cupcake machine at the Sprinkles store...you can watch the robot fetch all the treats.
Note: only get the cupcakes, the cookies were terrible.

I wish we could have to gone museums (closed) or places like the garment district, korea town and japan town(planned protests almost daily this past month in DTLA)...another summer?

Exploring the new and unknown can be fun and also, mentally challenging :)
The kids seem to love it except Chester.
He is a homebody and can't wait to get home so he's always asking when we'll be home...so, finding a treat store always makes him feel like it was worth it.
It was nice to even do a couple of hometown touristy things :)

Sports Mom Era

I think I saw this coming but maybe I didn't really see this coming:) I am a sports mom. Plain and simple. I had other hats too like library mom, classroom aid mom, costumes for musicals mom, outdoorsy hiking mom, musical mom, jazz band mom, tech crew mom, art mom, spring break mom, etc etc etc But sports mom has been a pretty big theme in my life:) So, in honor of my Dad's birthday today and his absolute love of sports, I share this to save the memoires.  Because one day, it will be just that, sweet and crazy sports mom era memories:) Okay, so I love JV games because the weather at 4pm in the Bay Area and even coast side was amazing last year. Tee shirt and jeans? Heavenly  Fall 2024 (he already looks different) Friday morning fits Becky Ruppel photography↑ In the middle of football season lies the beast of the high school basketball pancake breakfast. It was actually fun to serve all of the people coming through... even the complainers...haha Homecoming! And nothing better t...

Audrey's off! Santo Domingo East Mission

Here she is.  On a split.  In the campo(country)! Dominican Republic Time hop to May when she received her tags :) Her paper giving her permission to proselyte! Pre-mission things to do were: picture with flag at temple ✓ hikes in the sun✓ being set apart as a missionary in our home✓ home mtc p-day shenanigans✓ last taco bell supper :) ✓ hugs that need to last 18 months✓ Her first MTC phone call home. She had too much fun there but why not? This missionary mom will send you one package to the mtc... and that's it :) Upon arrival, she met her mission presidents!  Presidente y Hermana Chaverri Meeting her trainer in the field:) And after a mini transfer, meeting her new trainer! Her spanish will improve exponentially (she is from Nicaragua!)  The scripture she shared as she was in the Mexico MTC:)  I wrote it out so each day I could walk by it and remember her, and  remember the joy the gospel of Jesus Christ brings💗 I cry a little more nowadays but she has ...

The Milkbarn Path

Before fall came, Clay was determined to design and construct a walkway to the Milkbarn. Yay!!! Because we had a very narrow, shoddy (what? shoddy at the milbarn? *gasp*) ,  unevenly paved sidewalk to the front door which we knew needed a serious redo.  We bought the pavers from Lowes awhile ago and had them piled up in front of the house for months.  FYI, voles make homes under pavers.   Doesn't it look awesome ? Nice, wide, perfect curve and now easy to shovel when the snow comes. The curve looks just right against the angles of the house. I planted some tulips under the trees and near the front door.  I'm not holding my breath that anything will come up given my gardening expertise.  But again, I do believe in miracles. :) Truth! ! 1600 Sq. ft and going strong...and now with a pathway! I was trying to think of all the photos that have a pathway or walkway in them.  Here we are at the Fort Colli...
