Officially Summer: Freedom!

It's officially summer!

Chester was still in school so I took Audrey to the Malibu Pier :)

she is pretty cute to  explore with :)

she liked this cool shop on the pier with some motor cross inspired swimsuits

I took pics of the shop since one of my daydreams is to get a hold of that army navy surplus store in Montara and turn it into a little shop for weekenders...it is just a half a block from our land.
could it happen?

The kids took off on trek for just 2 days up near Tehachapi.
I worried since we had such an amazing trek experience in Wyoming out
 on the Mormon Trail.
But  it was a fantastic trek for my kids and they loved it.
I heard they had both took the opportunity to bear their testimonies :)
Something to be said for short and sweet treks.

Clay peeled the pool cover off for the summer !

For family home evening we made a happy poster of all the things we'd like to do this summer...so far we have crossed off one, haha

Each saturday we put Audrey in guitar and Henry in jazz piano.
He made jazz 2 at school as their pianist. He is learning a whole new skill set on piano, very different from his classical training and of course, he loves it!

Lucy headed to Duke for a 10 day math camp.
Me bidding her farewell at LAX :)

she was so ready to go and is having a life changing experience. I can see it in her texts and  photos she is sending me on her social media. She got in this camp and we just couldn't believe it. She says Duke is amazing and beautiful and loves the humidity. I told Clay we are doomed. Haha. I texted her this message today as I sat in sacrament meeting:

Happy Sunday Lucy! I love you and I am proud of you. What makes me most proud is your character of patience and love for others. The Lord is blessing you and guiding you right now. Be aware of his hand in your life and you will always be on the right path. And you will make choices regarding your path soon, be happy doing so. Agency is what we fought for as part of the plan of salvation💗i love you!

one of her cute posts :)

okay, life without Lucy....
IKEA lunch date and bookshelf buying

headed out to Oxnard for a great day at the beach...
the june gloom is there but it was pretty warm. A friend gave me directions but I found this one a little further down :)
I love exploring with the kids by my side.

I laughed when I saw this...my life as a mom...everyone just running around me and past me!

I sent this to Lucy and she commented how this captures all of their personalities :)
Audrey: done with brothers
Chester: easily provoked(our new joke)
Henry: chugging soda and throwing caution to the wind

We headed over to Ventura Harbor for some poking around but came upon the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center!
We are going to get there next summer to camp and hike. I cannot wait. One of the rangers was fantastic. I just have to say things like, "my husband is from Alaska and doesn't want to camp near people" and I automatically get the lowdown on what is harder to get to but waaay better :)

His growth spurt is on.
6'1" and looking down on me :)

but I think he loves me...oh wait, loves to bug me.
He keeps calling me mother like Buster from Arrested Development.
sigh.

4 years ago we went to Maine and had lobster and my kids really did not like it...so when this little guy crept out in the tank at the visitor center, I tortured them with memories :)

 summer freedom at last!

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
