January Visits

January at the beach is so pretty and clear...when it isn't raining :)

Lucy's best friend from Boulder came for a visit and we had so much fun with her!

love our Mackenzie
(or cousin Mackenzie as she has been nicknamed)

Next up the Quimby entourage came for a week!
They got some rain but it still exceeded any January day in Alaska :)

hanging out at Vasquez Rocks with
Clay and Mandy

oh the joys of a season pass at Magic Mountain, we were able to get them all in free. Perfect day, no lines!

Wesley and Chester rode this little coaster a number of times together, haha

Another beach day but this one was more typical of a
  January day up in Ventura

We did the Getty much to some boys chagrin.
Lucy proves to be my favorite museum buddy.
Her and Audrey see things that I don't notice and I love that about the both of them.

Even though it might be hard for this sport-o-holic...I make him find one painting he likes. Good choice with the Van Gogh!

and then this is what Henry does at museums....
being weird in public is something he is fine tuning

cousin stew
Tom and Mandy
they are the coolest
it was so good to see them!

Note: we hit up Boba Time every.single.day

we bought a used car for the kids...
not this one!
but it is red:)

Round 2 for Alaska cousins, Marcus and Charlie at Magic Mountain

Got Grandpa on the Goliath
(he played it cool)

And on the Twisted Colossus.
It is the best coaster there and we were not going to let him leave without riding in the front!

January sunrise.

 Goodbye January.

The whole long month of January is pretty much basketball games for Lucy and Chester and me barely making dinner or ahem, getting a christmas tree down on the 16th.
Anyway,
I love supporting them, watching both perform, picking them up when they don't have a good game and telling them to move forward.
I didn't realize the life lessons they could be getting out of all of this until I started learning them myself.
I admit, I don't know all the rules, I don't hug all the other moms, and I really need one of those seats with a back the older ladies bring! but I cheer hard for the team and try and stay positive through it all. I do stomp my feet, I do yell "come ON Lucy!" or "Chester, PICK IT UP!"
The girls made it to the CIF playoffs. So here we go.
I have only yelled once at a ref...okay, maybe twice :)

But something did happen this month.
I drove the road up to my house like I do a zillion times a day and my heart just spoke to me.

You are happy here.

We left what seemed ideal for something unknown.
 But I won't pretend I don't love California.
I know all the ways people say it is going downhill.
Or is the worst.
 That does not deter me.
 It welcomed us back.
With wide open warm arms.
There is so much good here and good to spread :)

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
