Last Day of School in Boulder

Last day of school!
I had them all together, it was so nice to have a breakfast all at the same time :)

Last dribble up the drive way to wait for the bus

Chester brings his basketball everyday to play during recess, notice his LeBron James sleeve :)

The last 2 years we have had John as our bus driver...he has been kind, patient and agreed to pick up the kids in our driveway.
I never worry about them getting on that bus in the morning.
And at the end of the year, he hands each child a special 2 dollar bill :)He is such a good guy

I headed over to the middle school early for the 8th grade continuation. Audrey hung out in the courtyard with friends.
She filled her clean pages in the yearbook with friends saying goodbye with funny messages.
She likes to be around lots of people :)

Spying on Henry getting ready for the 8th grade band performing for the continuation.
Their band is fabulous! His teacher, Mr. Rubin, has been nurturing of Henry's musicality. He let him collaborate and make suggestions on pieces. It was fun to see him take off!

getting his certificate

(I think he's headed for a growth spurt)

I thought I would be all weepy watching the continuation.
Truth be told, I am so glad middle school is over for him!
It has been exhausting and hard on him but he came through with good grades and survived. When Henry started middle school I told him I didn't want to check up on his homework and grades
(because he already hates it when I ask if he has brushed his teeth among other things, haha)
It has been a big blessing to just not worry about that part and let him independently earn those grades.

Some of his friends!

I took off and they all headed to CU for some fun. Although, a party that evening with a taco truck he said, was far better than the field trip :)

last time in the halls of
Mesa Elementary

it was bittersweet

He didn't want to drive home with me but took one last bus ride home with his best friend.
This kid makes everyone around him feel important :)

phone call : mom! Can I walk to sweet cow with my friends?!?!
the girl knows everyone so she prolonged her day and had a blast

our annual
"watch a movie on the last day of school night to get our minds off saying goodbye to favorite friends and teachers"

this year was Avengers: Infinity War

in fact, it's always a marvel movie :)

A couple of things happened right before school let out on top of finals and Clay working his new job out of town...

Henry's ignite talk was chosen for the school's Ignite Event (ted talk style but only 3 minutes long, written word timed with slides)
His was called "the wheels on the bus" and it was a comedic short essay of all the things that happen on the school bus to and from school. He had the audience laughing out loud.

Audrey had her final track meet!
She did great in her relay race and 100m but due to a collision she missed out on her 200m which is the one she shines in.
She had a welt on her head for 24 hours.

Lucy's final concert in the mixed sophomore choir, Troubadours.
They are so fun.
The Choir director asked the last week of school..."are you sure you are moving?" She loves it but hates the dress, haha

3rd grade mini society!

the train station at DIA, the reason we moved to Colorado is right here, kind of a moment for me seeing it

the weekend before school got out I headed out to Los Angeles to go house hunting. We have been stretched so thin for so long, stress level was high!

So, we met in the airport. He flew in from SF and we headed for dinner and a walk on the beach.

17 years right here

being together is always the answer for us and we were ready to take on the house hunt!

here is a shot from a backyard....magic mountain will be our new stomping grounds come the end of summer.
While we were there, it felt pretty natural and we are excited for this next phase for our family (but we were also praying like crazy, nervous and anxious and hoping this is all gonna work out)
I think we might collapse right into our new home after all we have done with the Milkbarn and our schedules.
We are both looking forward to being together on Saturdays and enjoying our family and hopefully serving those around us and yes, the beach is only 45 minutes away!

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
