Winter Stories from the Collins

Winter at the Milkbarn is officially over!

Although a snowfall or two may come down,
the bitter cold has said goodbye ✌ and now I'm looking back on all the flurries that came our way.

Snow day!

Neighborhood walks in the snow

I love our Colorado super blue skies

Sledding day over by Southern Hills...it's a fun place because we get to run into school friends...especially Chester's friends from class. Oh Nick....

I think she's done sledding now

Audrey's favorite spot on a cold Sunday afternoon

I started sewing again and drafting patterns as a new years goal.
Here is a top I made Lucy :)

Chester and Audrey hand prints on the bridge

Inversion over at Shanahan Ranch

And those dead dry winter days that either have me longing for snow or rain or anything green!
FYI, I still miss the ocean.
I can't escape that since I grew up by the beach.

A flurry of life happened over winter...here are a few standouts.
Henry heading out to his Klondike up in the mountains

Sunday dresses

Chester's 2nd grade "Snow Show" : his lines were "coming from the west I'd say!" and "Water vapor and invisible gas...like a fart"- obviously every 2nd grader wanted that line.

Lucy had a big month in February!
Here she is at the Colorado History Museum for the opening night of the statewide show.
She was awarded two gold key awards for her artwork last year in the Scholastic Art Awards. One was chosen as an American Vision Award and went on to win a national Silver Medal! Very proud of her.
Her mixed media piece took 30 hours to complete

Heading out to the Winter Ball with friends

At the Colorado History museum a couple of weeks later receiving her awards!

Lucy helped do braids for Audrey's 5th grade musical with her friend Sarah

Audrey as Queen Sarabi

the cast for Ms. Krumpeck's Lion King

with Grandma after the show

I worked alongside some great women to costume the show.
We went for it and it paid off, the show looked fabulous.
The school has a strong tradition of performing arts with music.
I did Audrey's costume and 11 hyenas along with other things...like backstage work etc.
Not sure if I can be backstage again though!

Henry on stage for Annie. He played Drake the butler...with a british accent! He danced as well as acted

Made Lucy a dress for a Hairspray number for the high school Pops show. The seniors invited the freshman to be involved so her and a couple of freshman girls jumped right in.

Had a nice visit with my Mom and took her up to Rocky Mountain National Park! It was the prefect day for a drive and sightseeing. I got her up to see Bear Lake. Which, of course...was frozen.

And now spring is saying hello and boy, I love spring. It is a relief, a new view on life, more sun and gives my heart gratitude that winter is over!

And late spring is gonna look different at the Milkbarn because we ordered a roof!

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
