Out with the Old. In with the New.

Shut the front door!
My friend says this phrase all the time and I laugh each time I hear it. It was hard not to think of our literal front door never closing. Sometime in March the door decided to just stop doing it's job. So we had to fire it.
I left the house daily in hopes our Milkbarn spooky exterior would keep burglars away.

See ya later
The new siding
New Door!
We picked the new door up in the section of Home Depot where all the special order doors are returned for whatever reason (love that section!).The minute we saw it, we new it belonged here.
Plus, I like the hunt in finding a good deal.

Feeling Blue
I want to do a blue color on the door. I bought some samples and threw in a red and a gold based on curiosity. I had the family vote on their favorite color. The highest count was for Lakeside Cabin by Benjamin Moore(2nd one down on the right). In a few weeks if we can get our siding done, we will have the house painted and the front door. I can't wait! It's a race between us and the snow.

In effort to not speak of snow in September, here are some back to school reports.

7th Grade

First Day of Kindergarten
I didn't cry but I have never hugged him so tight as I did when he came home and got off the bus.

Mr. Big Stuff. First day at Mesa.
Audrey(3rd grade) and Henry( 5th grade) on their first day back.

My mom says Audrey looks like Carole Lombard(an old Hollywood actress) in this photo. She is pretty adorable.

Locker Day
We showed up for locker day which just happened to be picture day. I was thinking it was just for ID cards.
Nope. For the year book.
At least she wore matching clothes!! All I know is that it will be far better than my 7th grade yearbook photo. Mine was taken after I had mono for 3 weeks. I looked almost dead.
The miracle for the day was she got an upper locker. No more crouching down to get to her lower locker from last year. Honestly, why don't they ask these kids their height before assigning them?
She's now 5'10" and still growing.

And while they were at school...I admit, I missed them and felt a little empty.
Afternoon friend
This doe has been coming in my backyard for the last couple of weeks. She likes our weeds.

Mama and baby heading home(they are on the road crossing)
The doe and her baby heading back home after hanging out in our yard.

My 1st hike alone in many MANY years. 12 actually.
I took a hike behind our home. It was the kind of day where the air feels like it's not quite summer and not yet fall.
So in other words, it was my favorite kind of day.

Looking down on Boulder
View of Eldorado Canyon
Hiking flowers
These flowers were all along my trail.  I have never seen so many flowers this late here in the season.
These two.
My eyes caught sight of these two buddies. It made me think of a quote I read on one of my stationary boxes.
"Wherever you are, it is your friends who make your world."
-William James

Thank you all for being a friend to me. I have been blessed in my life with wonderful friendships.
Here is my best friend

Friends come in all forms...
New friends who hike with us

They help us achieve

They help us celebrate double digits

They meet us and never let go even when you change schools

They come as cousins who come visit our crazy house

Friends who include little brothers who repeatedly bomb your hang out sessions

And friends can be our children.
Here she took me to a local boutique called Eleanor after ice cream one day.
She thought I would like it and we walked out with this scarf for her!
Now there is a friend and daughter who knows me:)

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
