The Wall (Because I'm not totally ready to unveil my super plain farmhouse bathroom)

Wait for it.....
The first Milkbarn bathroom is almost done. It's a very simple farmhouse style. We have to wait another 24 hours for the mirror glue to cure among other things. I'll unveil the quiet masterpiece when it is complete. I said 3/31 right? I might have lied about that. So let's talk about something else like rocks and spring and stilts.
And maybe jelly doughnuts.

Forget Me Knots
I found these simple treasures by the back of the house. It makes me believe the simple farmhouse I want to create will be as sweet as these flowers.

Your welcome Eldorado Springs! Our house is looking less haunted by the day.
The Wall.

Can you operate better than a 4 year old?
Chester picked up operating quickly. I'm glad because heavy equipment operators make good money for college. And he has already told me he is going to USC because he says that's where Lucy is going. Did you hear that Dad? The baseball caps worked.
Purty
Spring is knocking. This bush(I don't know what it is, sorry) is the first to bloom. Now I get why people love spring. There is all this hope in seasonal deliverance and for me, some emotional drama. Oh, it's warm...I'm alive. Oh, it looks like snow...
shoot me.

Cactus!
Last Sunday we found quite a bit of cactus on our property. Henry was playing catch with Clay and Audrey when, of course, he ran and fell onto one. I heard some wailing. Really LOUD wailing. He came in so I could look at the 78 needle pricks all over his leg. Poor guy. He healed up and later dug up all the new cacti "blooming" in the yard with Clay.

The Wall
Clay brought home a mini excavator from work to clear up some work from the driveway, clear out the garden and build a rock wall to edge our driveway to the street. So we all got to work Saturday morning. Honestly, working together is fun. It brought me closer to my children in a completely different way.
I love it.
The Boulder Boulder
I think I know where the city of Boulder got it's name. The soil is full of rocks here. Not just pebbles but boulders. Giant boulders. No need to purchase landscaping rocks! Clay just tossed up the ground like a salad and found more than enough to build a wall lining for our driveway.

Cute Digger
Audrey changed her shoes twice and wore her very cute sunglasses for her work day. It's all about the gear for her.

Rakers
I thought raking was easy until I had to show the kids how to do it. Wait, I grew up in an apartment in Hawaii, I hope I know what I am doing. I'm pretty sure my raking skills were gleaned from old Little House on the Prairie episodes. That's fine. Life is about learning, right? Raking leaves is vastly different from raking and leveling gravel. So now we have a zen garden driveway!

Where did Chester go?
Chester likes to work more than any of the children but we all have a breaking point. He said he was going to build me a "seat". Thanks Chester! I needed something wobbly to relax in the shade on.

A gift from our neighbor John
At some point the wall building was just me and Clay. All the kids took longer breaks as the day went on. Disappearing next door, going inside, telling me they needed water and snacks(whatever!)playing where we couldn't see them.  Our neighbor John came over to say hello and ask if we wanted some stuff he was giving away. Snake aquarium(NO WAY), dart board(okay) Stilts? Sure. Why not?

Can stilts pay for college?
Someone really likes the stilts. Maybe if his stilt skills improve we can rent him out for birthday parties. Call me for a booking!
And thanks for reading. Because I need all of you in my life to share this time with. I read this quote from the lead scientist for the Mars Rover that found the jelly doughnut looking rock a couple of months ago. I feel like this best sums up our life right now.
"I don't know what any of this means. We are completely confused. We are having a wonderful time"Thank you Dr. Squyres. Nailed it.

Audrey Graduates!

And just like that, she is done with high school! A couple of days before, I had her try on all the cords she received. We have lovingly teased her about being a boss lady for quite sometime, but it is a legitimate moniker! I think she was pleased to have more cords than her older siblings too:) Cords and what they represent: white-Seminary graduate red- Red Cross club rainbow- art for 2+ years with an A purple-maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 7+ semesters blue & green- completing 200+ service hours blue & gold- National Honor Society club She decorated her cap as a future cougar:) Still planning her outfits out since kindergarten and I love it. Picking up the older kids the day of her graduation...haha Our go-to Hawaiian plate lunch meal for graduation! 💗Ready to go💗 Aunt Marcie flew in for the best surprise visit!  She made it memorable for everyone.  And served as our graduation photographer. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have cried upon her arrival💗 Cougar for life! It

London Layovers

This post is going backwards because this is one of the last photos I took in London before we went home.  I was also feeling very sick but adrenaline kicked in....because hello, it's LONDON ! I completely loved London.  I wasn't expecting that at all.  I thought I'd like it but I LOVED it.   I'm already calculating when I can go back with the girls:) Our charter bus from the cruise dropped us at Heathrow 7 hours early and the airline attendant when checking our bags noted that we  "were quite early" :) So we hopped on the Elizabeth Line and walked over to Hyde Park. It was full of friends, and dogs off leash with their owners, families...just everything. It just felt perfect. Like, was this real? Am I in a movie? Are these accents real? Oh wait...I'm the one with the accent:)  ( Remember, I have never really traveled outside of the the country and now the pandoras box of traveling is officially open...okay,  I digress...) Anyway, back to our afternoon  i

We Are Officially Building That House!

And....we're off! First concrete pour was a success Along with a crew involving other people outside  of our humble brigade! This is the garage floor which really should be called  Clay's shop floor haha let's be honest here :) the mastermind at hand :) ten years ago we took this photo upon our move into the Milkbarn, the home that changed me, changed all of us really. What an era that was for us! I mentioned to Clay as we build our home here on the coast,  my heart will finally mend from leaving Boulder. We are much older(sigh),  much wiser(that's good!),  and even more patient(almost killed us and we wanted to quit too many times to count). But here we are.  The immense joy we get when we work together creatively is really something else. It's taken us forever. The pieces are fitting together. God definitely took his time with us. And now...we're back :) (p.s. most of what we'll do will be in my stories section on my instagram @jenniferjoycolli
